Watford math/emo collective Lakes have shared the latest track from their upcoming ‘Slow Fade’ record. ‘Trouble’ captures the sextet in a plucky and dynamic mood, showcasing their math-rock capabilities with warm melodies. It also features Ben Littlejohn from US indie-pop stalwarts Hovvdy on Pedal Steel.
Commenting on the track, vocalist Roberto Cappellina, shared ‘Trouble’ is “about chatting to your mates on MSN while downloading music from Limewire. Fun fact: The original demo was called ‘Hovvdy’, which is a nod to the chord sequence Matt (Shaw, Drums) had written for it.”
‘Trouble’ will be the final track to be released from ‘Slow Fade’. Lakes‘ fourth album will be released on July 4th through their own label, Lucky Art. The label is a collaboration with UK indie label Big Scary Monsters. ‘Slow Fade’ will also feature previous singles, ‘Versions,’ ‘Hypernpw,’ and ‘Peach Fuzz’.
