We are sad to report Nick Mann, the Editor and Founder of UK DIY punk rock fanzine A Short Fanzine About Rocking, was tragically killed in London this past weekend.

Nick, 35, attempted to save his brother, Robert, from an oncoming tube train in London. Nick suffered severe head injuries. Both Nick and Robert were taken to London’s Royal Free Hospital, where Nick passed away. Whilst Robert remains in critical condition.

Nick launched A Short Fanzine About Rocking in 2001 and ran for 13 years with its final edition being published in May of 2014. During its time, ASFAR became one of the UK’s most influential and important fanzines as Nick covered a plethora of upcoming and established DIY/underground acts from around the world.

In 2013, Already Heard spoke to Nick Mann as part of our ‘Why We Do This’ series. You can read the feature on Nick and ASFAR here.

Already Heard would like to pass on our condolences to Nick’s family and friends at this difficult time.
