Wilkes-Barre, PA melodic hardcore mob One Step Closer have marked leap day by announcing a new album. It’s called ‘All You Embrace’ and will be released through Run For Cover Records on May 17th.
Past releases, 2021’s ‘This Place You Know’ and 2023’s ‘Songs For The Willow’, saw the quartet’s stock rise, becoming one of hardcore’s most noteworthy rising names. ‘All You Embrace’ sees One Step Closer to explore the limitless possibilities of the genre, blending in elements of emo, and ‘90s alternative rock.
“We know what we want to do with the band,” says vocalist Ryan Savitski in a press release. “We’re just naturally writing what feels right to us. I wanted to showcase One Step Closer in its fullest state,” says Savitski. “Every single part of the band, I wanted it to be there. I wanted us to be 100% ourselves and be as authentic to our band as we could possibly be.”
Joined by guitarists Ross Thompson and Colman O’Brien, and drummer Connor McAuliffe, One Step Closer worked with producer Jon Markson, who also played bass on the album. While Knocked Loose’s Isaac Hale and Citizen’s Mat Kerekes individually co-wrote three songs each with the band. “They helped push us and give us the courage to take some of these creative leaps,” says Thomspon.
