Emerging Aberdeen trio Palejoy have followed up two well-received singles with a new track. ‘I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All’ sees the Scottish emo rockers deliver a raw and heart-wrenching introduction to Palejoy. The track’s driving guitars and climbing melodies are reminiscent of early Jimmy Eat World with an undercurrent of Basement‘s jangly distortion.
Lyrically, ‘I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All’ allows vocalist and guitarist Dale Sutherland to reflect on losing his late Grandfather, the sadness, anger, and self-loathing. “I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All’ stemmed from the emotions I felt at the time we lost My Papa and how I reflected on his passing a year on. He was someone who was such an important figure in my life. It was only natural for me to write about him,” shared Sutherland.
Kieran Angus and Jamie Reid complete Paleface‘s line-up and is a culmination of members from Alkanes and Broadsea.
Looking ahead to the New Year, Dale told us that the band are planning a follow-up single and has “plans to hit the road”.
