Late last week, London quartet Lightcliffe delivered ‘For A While’. An EP full of blissful and bittersweet indie/emo that proves to be another shining beacon of hope within the UK’s underground scene. It follows a run of singles and two-track EP, ‘Mistakes I Seem To Make’, all coming within the space of two years of forming.
‘For a While’’s plucky guitars and textured rhythm section makes songs such as ‘Drapes’ and ‘Staring at Your Bedroom Floor’ pleasant on the ear. Its late, subtle arrival is only the beginning for the four-piece, with tours alongside Don’t Worry and Heavy Hearts pencilled in on either side of Christmas (full dates below).
Lightcliffe are just one of many noteworthy bands emerging from the independent scene. Known for its tight-knit community, we asked them to recommend some mates to check out.

Don’t Worry
They’re from Harlow New Town, Essex. Our good friends and an incredible band. Their songwriting is inspiring to say the least. they have just finished recording an album which we can not wait for. They are definitely ones to watch!
Heavy Hearts
They’re our label mates. Good alternative rock band catchy riffs and BIG choruses! Come see them on our tour, together.
Fresh
Oh heck! They are such a good band. We heard about them and got to play with them at Backpack Fest. We really dig their sound, their charisma and Kathryn’s vocals.
Sibling
We’ve played with those guys a couple of times. They’re all lovely dudes. Their last record was great, very catchy songs on there. Benio has helped us out in the past, all round great guy.
Major
They’re from from Belgium. They put us on in Ghent were we played a great house show. We’ve since put them on too. We’ll be seeing them again in the future for sure.
Epona
We went to see them play with Don’t Worry about a year ago and haven’t stopped listening to them since. They sure know how to write a catchy melody with such refinement that you just want to listen to them over and over.
They also have a brand new EP out too.
Nervus
Big Scary Monsters’ new signing. Their last record was phenomenal. They’re one of the tightest bands we have watched and been fortunate enough to play with. Looking forward to their new record.
‘For A While’ by Lightcliffe is out now on Failure By Design Records.
