Playlist: The Lounge Kittens’ Download Festival 2017 Medley

Since emerging as a viral sensation in 2014, Southampton’s The Lounge Kittens have been delighting festival-goers with their comedic, lounge-style covers of popular rock and metal songs. From Limp Bizkit’s ‘Rollin,’ which led to them joining Fred Durst and company on stage at Sonisphere, to ‘Duality’ by Slipknot to System Of A Down’s ‘Bounce’ and beyond, the trio, made up of Jenny Deacon (vocals and piano), Timia Gwendoline (vocals), and Zan Lawther (vocals), have an array of tongue-in-cheek hits at their disposal.

This weekend The Lounge Kittens will be returning to the Download Festival for the second time where they will be performing a medley of standout songs from other bands playing throughout the three-day event.

However, before they hit the Dogtooth stage on Saturday, they will be cycling 164 miles from London to Donington as part of ‘The Trooper Heavy Metal Truants’ charity cycle ride. Now in its fifth year, the three-day ride will see 50 cyclists take part; music fans, music industry professionals, band members, and HMT founders; Iron Maiden Manager, Rod Smallwood, and former Metal Hammer Editor, Alex Milas. Proceeds from the fundraising ride will be split between three charities; Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and Childline. While The Lounge Kittenscover of Queen’s ‘Bicycle Race’ will be donated to the initiative.

As they prepare to get on their bikes and make their pilgrimage to Download, The Lounge Kittens compiled a playlist of songs that will be part of their medley this weekend.

Aerosmith – Dude Looks Like A Lady

…because it’s the ONLY way we could start our #DL2017 medley. What a banger.

AFI – Girl’s Not Grey

We’ve had a lot of people happy we don’t clash with AFI so it’s only fitting to include our tribute to them.

Rob Zombie – Dragula

The chugging rhythm of this song gets us every time.

Devin Townsend Project – Kingdom

because we had to get a bit of Devin in. Did you know Devin hates milk? As does Zan!

Fozzy – Enemy

…because Chris Jericho is hands down one of the nicest men in rock.

Steel Panther – Party All Day

…because we can never, EVER have too much Steel Panther (wahey)

Sabaton – Hell & Back

We heard Sabaton bring a tank and a plane on tour with them. We have amended our rider accordingly because frankly, we feel like we’re letting the side down!

Alestorm – Keelhauled

…because we have been longing to do some Alestorm for AGES. Who doesn’t love singing about drinking and pirates?

Pierce the Veil – King for a Day

Any excuse to sing like cartoon mice. Literally, any excuse.

Motionless in White – Reincarnate

…because we like a challenge.

Like A Storm – Love the Way You Hate Me

We could not put some of our buddies LAS into the mix. Did you see the video from DL2015 where Chris tries to teach Jen to play the didgeridoo? GOOGLE IT. You’re welcome.

Biffy Clyro – Mountains

What a song. Not enough time in the medley to do it justice but we shoehorned it in!

Creeper – Black Mass

…because they are lovely people from Southampton, just like us. Go Team!

Slayer – Raining Blood

Finally some SLLLAAAAAAAAYYYYYYERRRRRRRR!

Alter Bridge – My Champion

We could literally have done ANY Alter Bridge song. They’re all anthems. Can’t wait to see them!

Aerosmith – Love In An Elevator

Because they’re Aerosmith. So they get two. Because THEY’RE AEROSMITH!

The Lounge Kittens – Bodies (by Drowning Pool)

…because that’s how we’re kicking off the show on Saturday.
