It’s been three years since we last had any new music from Rise Against. However, that changes today with the release of ‘Nod’.
Described as “a rallying cry and call to action, fuelled by compassion, camaraderie and the collective urge for change,” it sees the quartet return in fine form. Led by vocalist/guitarist Tim McIlrath, his words on ‘Nod’ are Rise Against as their most articulate and forthright. Fuelled by a thorough sense of urgency as McIlrath sings “Not one more minute, one more day.”
The arrival of ‘Nod’ comes just days after Donald Trump began his second term as President of the United States of America. As a band who has never backed down by sharing their political views, ‘Nod’ calls for unity. As McIlrath shared, “‘Nod’ is about the solace we find in community. It’s about the comfort in knowing that we are not alone. This comfort can temper our anger and our frustration, at least temporarily.”
With an imminent return to the UK and Europe set to kick off at the end of this month, 2025 looks set to be a busy year for Rise Against. ‘Nod’ appears to be the first slice of a probable new album. It sees the Chicago outfit work with producer Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Manchester Orchestra) and was mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore).
