Having shared two new singles in recent months, Rise Against have now revealed they will be releasing a new album this summer. ‘Ricochet’, the band’s first album in four years, will be released through Loma Vista Recordings on Friday, August 15th.
Produced by Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, Manchester Orchestra, St. Vincent), ‘Ricochet’ sees Rise Against as socially and politically conscious as ever. In a press statement, the album sees the quartet ask listeners to consider who ultimately benefits from this collective division and displeasure. “The algorithm wants our attention so it is designed to make us laugh or cry, but mostly, it wants us to be angry, because that is how it spreads the furthest. Like a pile of marbles, hit hard. Who benefits from our anger? Questions we don’t ask, as we fire away,” says vocalist and guitarist Tim McIlrath.
The band’s new single, ‘I Want It All’, sets the tone with its bold, anthemic sound and lyrical theme of self-determination. It’s the third track from ‘Ricochet’, following ‘Nod’ and ‘Prizefighter‘, Both tracks bookend ‘Ricochet’.
Rise Against will be back in the UK for the Download Festival on June 13th.
