Searching Alaska have announced they are splitting up due to personal commitments.

The band posted the following message:

It is with absolutely heavy hearts that we are having to announce the split of Searching Alaska.

We had exciting plans to work with new management as well as a new EP, however, some of the band have realised they can no longer fully commit to the band due to other personal commitments.

We have fully agreed that as a band, we are not comfortable continuing as Searching Alaska with the departure of so many members, and we are all deeply saddened by what has become a necessity to split.

In the short time that we’ve been together as a band, we’ve had the most incredible experience – touring parts of the UK, playing with some great bands, and of course, something that either of us will ever forget – playing Download Festival 2013. Having been together for just over a year, we feel like we’ve achieved so much in a short space of time and we can’t thank the people that have supported us enough because it wouldn’t have happened without every single one of you.

Our last show will be on FEBRUARY 15TH in CARDIFF with Falling With Style, Fathoms and Shields, so if you’re local – get down. If you’re far away – make a road trip!!!! (please bare in mind we have cancelled all remaining shows).

Thank you for everything – we wish every member of the band success in the future.

This isn’t quite the end of Searching Alaska just yet – we’ll probably be collaborating together in the future, hanging out and playing music, and probably releasing a few of our songs that we planned for the EP. Thanks for everything,

Christina, Jake, Toby and Jamie x”
