The organisers behind the 2000trees Festival have announced Soft Play as the Thursday night headliner for this summer’s gathering.
It will be the second time the two-piece has headlined the festival. They closed out the festival in 2017.
Commenting on the announcement, 2000trees Festival organiser, James Scarlett said “We’re thrilled to be able to confirm SOFT PLAY (formerly known as Slaves) are headlining the Thursday at 2000trees! New name, same songs, same incredible live show! They first played the festival in an early slot in 2014 before headlining in 2017 – so to have them back again now both the band and festival are bigger and better than ever is going to be something special.”
Who are Soft Play?
The English punk duo were formerly known as Slaves but changed their moniker late last year. They stated the name “doesn’t represent who we are as people or what our music stands for any longer”.
Dinosaur Pile-Up, Hell Is For Heroes, Haggard Cat and more have also been announced
In addition to Soft Play being announced as the third and final headliner, 12 other acts have been added to the already stacked line-up. Amongst them are 2000trees regulars Dinosaur Pile-Up and Haggard Cat, as well as reformed post-hardcore group Hell Is For Heroes.
As always, 2000trees looks to highlight emerging new bands and today’s news is no different with the addition of Love Is Noise, Carsick, and Beach Riot.

Who is also headlining the 2000trees Festival 2023?
Alongside Soft Play, Welsh metallers Bullet For My Valentine will close out the main stage on Friday, July 7th. Whereas Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes will headline on the festival’s final night – Saturday, July 8th 2023.
