Alright, earlier this week we put the call out for new bands to be featured in Something For The Weekend and you did not disappoint!
The first of these to be featured is Root Spirits, a blues rock band from Athens, GA. Alongside them we’re featuring Beanius who impressed me when I caught them live earlier this week and a mysterious new project from the North called Wade.
If you’d like to be featured on “Something For The Weekend” or you want some “local heroes” to be featured, send an e-mail to Richard Heaven.
Roots Spirits
For Fans Of: Led Zeppelin, Black Stone Cherry, Southern/Blues Rock
Root Spirits are a dirty, low fi sounding blues rock band from Athens, GA. They are currently unsigned but, not fearing hard work, they decided to start a new project (titled ‘Live From The Generals Headquarters’) which involves recording and releasing a new song every week until they find a label. All of the music is available to download from their website. I think that this is an awesome idea. Proactive with a dry, dirty tone? I’m down with that.

Beanius
For Fans Of: Rage Against The Machine, Muse, and (heavier) Coheed and Cambria.
Despite being a small and twee place, the Isle of Wight does occasionally produce some attention grabbing rock bands. On record, this southern three piece sound like Rage Against The Machine minus the hip hop edge, or Muse with all the pretentiousness stripped from their bones although their live sound is considerably heavier. Their second album is pencilled in to be released later this year.

Wade
For Fans Of: Sunday League and Dads.
Not much has been posted about Wade (a new Newcastle emoish four piece) except for a couple of images and a rough rehearsal video. By following the links it seems like they are involved with Get Into It Records who have a pretty solid success rate for finding good new bands so they are definitely one to watch if you like the sounds Sunday League or Dads.
