New Orleans crew Cane Hill are back and ready to kick off a new era. It’s been six years since the quartet delivered a full-length album, however, it looks like a third record isn’t too far away. ‘The Midnight Sun’ is one of two new tracks Cane Hill has unleashed in the past week, returning with plenty of vigour and bite.

Executed with a heavy influence of post-hardcore and nu-metal, ‘The Midnight Sun’ is a bombastic assault with Elijah Witt’s mix of soothing vocals and distorted screams being backed up by a versatile density. Guitarist Elijah Barnett, bassist Ryan Henriquez, and drummer Devin Clark demonstrate sonic urgency that grabs hold of you from the start.

Lyrically, it maintains the personal nature that has threaded Cane Hill‘s catalogue together. The opening of “Lost Hopeless and left out to rot, I’ve been Forgotten and thrown in a Box,” questionably sees Witt express how he views how the band has been treated in recent years. Yet the notion of being true to himself has allowed Witt to find some inner peace.

“The Midnight Sun is about many different things, but most importantly, it’s about returning to who we really are,” comments Cane Hill‘s vocalist. “It was the first song we wrote when we finally sat down to do an LP, and I think you can hear the profound resolution in our souls when you listen to it.”

Ecstasy In Grief’, the other new track from Cane Hill is equally impressive, proving to be a frantic blast with a weighty nu-metal influence. When paired with ‘The Midnight Sun’, it sees Cane Hill will a statement of intent.

The double single also coincides with their imminent European tour supporting Resolve alongside Acres and Half Me. The tour includes seven UK dates.
