Song of the Day: Cold Years – ‘Choke’

Cold Years has been a band on our radar for the best part of six years. For example, 2018’s ‘Northern Blue’ EP received a 4.5 score. Since that time, they’ve grown stronger and are now preparing to release their third album – A Different Life’,

Its latest single, ‘Choke’, today’s ‘Song of the Day’, highlights the Scottish group’s tendency to be socially and politically conscious. Its stinging lyricism sees Cold Years frontman Ross Gordon venomously denounce the current political state of the UK. “On and on the press rolls on, Choking on the lie,” he sings on the track’s bridge. It’s complemented by a pulsating brand of punk rock with firey drum work, scorching guitars, and a radiant chorus.
