Bursting out of Brighton, Eville have quickly made their mark with their self-styled brand of "Brat Metal". Since forming three years ago, the trio have shaped a sound that combines heavy riffs, hyperpop melodies, with a healthy dose of bratty attitude. Led by Eva Sheldrake's empowering feminine lyrics, their debut EP, also called 'Brat Metal', is a sharp and crunching snapshot of what Eville are all about. Whether that is on 'BR4T MBL's (brat mobile), fusion of Charli XCX's Y2K pop with chugging guitars, or 'No Pictures Please's rapid verses launching into demonic breakdowns. While 'Bikini Top' offers plenty of swagger with a nu-metal crunch. It comes to a head with 'Accidents Happen'. Riding on a thick groove, it sees the three-piece serve up a bloodthirsty closure with a sharp, metallic bite. Undoubtedly, 'Brat Metal' shows an abundance of confidence from Eville. And while they may have positioned themselves as leaders of the "brat metal movement," they're well aware they're not alone. It’s an absolute masterclass in call and response, with the female and male vocals working perfectly together to pull the Barbie & Ken concept of the song together. The juxtaposition of sweet, cutesy harmonies and melodies contrasts beautifully with the harsh, downtuned guitar riffs, showcases exactly what we love about this genre. https://youtu.be/gGKZqDyGWYs Delilah Bon - Princeless Princess We love Delilah Bon. Her dedication to amplifying women’s voices and her integral role in the scene are truly inspiring. Earlier this year, we had the privilege of playing with her at the garage in London, and it was one of our favourite shows ever. We chose 'Princeless Princess' because it perfectly encapsulates female rage. It’s empowering, bold, and full of attitude, all while being juxtaposed with pink, girly visuals - a hallmark of brat metal. https://youtu.be/Grdp4-Audws Lake Malice - Mitsuko We’re big fans of Lake Malice and their unique blend of metal and hyperpop. We’ve always been fans of infusing electronic drum and bass beats into our music, and Lake Malice’s 'Mitsuko' is a prime example of this. Whenever we see them on a lineup, we make a point of watching them, and as a result, this song has become a firm favourite of ours. The melodic guitar riffs, breakbeats, and Alice’s brutally screamed vocals seamlessly blend together, perfectly displaying the more electronic side of the genre. https://youtu.be/0GyEk35Eo6w As Everything Unfolds - Set In Flow Our friends in As Everything Unfolds are another amazing display of electronic female-fronted metal. 'Set In Flow' has become a regular on our tour playlist. Charlie’s screams and the incredible production make this track a standout moment. The synths and guitar riffs work flawlessly together to create a huge, powerful sound. Debby Gough) We’ve had the pleasure of playing alongside Cody Frost a couple of times now, and every time they’ve blown us away. 'Bloodsucka' is one of our favourites from Cody. The song builds beautifully, starting eerily stripped back and gradually intensifying into a huge breakdown with screamed vocals and guitar riffs. The accompanying video is another brilliant display of juxtaposition.
