Fresh off the back of appearing at last weekend’s ArcTanGent Festival, Atlanta’s The Callous Daoboys have revealed details of a new three-track EP. It’s called ‘God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys’ and will be released on October 20th through MNRK Heavy and Modern Static Records,
It follows the experimental noise sextet’s remarkable 2022 full-length, ‘Celebrity Therapist’. Yet as new single, ‘Waco Jesus’, shows with its massive riffs, deep vocals, and wondrous violin, The Callous Daoboys refused to be tied down to a genre. While ‘God Smiles Upon…’ promises to twist and turn with hints of nu-jazz, salsa, and nu-metal amongst its breakdowns and hooks.
“In a way it feels like the band just started, even though we’ve been chipping away at it for the last six years. We want to be the defining band of this weirdo genre-swapping heavy music, where you can’t put it under an umbrella. I think what’s cool about it is it’s just immediately like, ‘Hey, fuck you, this is The Callous Daoboys!’”, says vocalist Carson Pace, who also spoke about ‘Waco Jesus’.
“Waco Jesus is about insecurity, projecting that insecurity and not doing anything to solve it regardless of how people are telling you to NOT be insecure. It’s about being unable to take a compliment.”

‘God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys’ will be released on limited vinyl (1000 copies) across three variants.
The deluxe edition vinyl packaging features a matte cover and die-cut jacket with a photograph spot-glossed pull-out insert. This EP is only being pressed one time on vinyl.

The Callous Daoboys’ latest single, ‘Waco Jesus’, is accompanied by an entertaining video as the sextet host ‘Phantom Phinders’, a tongue-in-cheek take of paranormal-hunting TV shows. It sees the band searching for the “suburban spectre” between an absolutely rockstar-worthy performance.
