Newport goth punks The Nightmares are preparing to go out on a headline tour later this month. However, they’ve decided to expand their “‘Noir Pop’ universe” with a remix EP.

‘From Above (Remix EP)’ sees four remixes of the track of the same name, which originally appeared on last year’s ‘Séance’ full-length. Shoegaze/goth rockers Zetra open the four-track EP with a blend of shimmering and brooding synths. Darkwave outfit Cruel Blue takes ‘From Above’ in an 80’s post-punk direction, reminiscent of New Order. Upcoming tour supports Mouth Slut twist the track into an icy goth-laden number with industrial beats. Finally, New York-based synth-pop duo Soft Faith serves up a pulsating remix.

“As we approach the one-year anniversary of our debut album, ‘Séance’, we felt it only right to revisit the first single we released on that campaign. What better song to pick than, “From Above”, a song about a vampire falling in love with a human,” explained The Nightmares bass player Ben Mainwaring behind the reason for the EP’s creation. “We handpicked four of our peers, to take the stems from the original recording, and reimagine the song, however they pleased. Each reimagination of ‘From Above’ is a beautiful and unique take on the track, and each version perfectly captures how different personalities can perceive the emotions within a song.”

You can find The Nightmares playing the following venues later this month. Support comes from Manchester-based Queer Darkwave duo Moth Slut.
