Members of Black PeaksPalm Reader, and Toska have come together to form a new project called Vower. The quintet debuted their first single, ‘Shroud’ on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P Carter earlier this week, and it certainly leaves an instant impact.

With the distinctive vocals of Josh Mckeown, he’s joined by Rabea Massaad (Toska), Joe Gosney (Black Peaks/Palm Reader), Liam Kearley (Black Peaks), and Rory McLean to create a sound that is equally gargantuan and cathartic. “The song is about seeing things for what they really are, the lifting of a Shroud,” Vower explained. “‘Shroud ‘was one of the first bits of music we wrote and has acted as a catalyst for all the music that has come after. It’s an important piece of music for us and marks the first chapter of this band.”

Musically, ‘Shroud’ is explosive, partly due to Kearley’s drum work. At the same time, Gosney and Massaad combine to create an alluring yet crushing guitar onslaught with McLean adding a hefty groove to the track. With the personnel involved and their noteworthy track record, Vower is a new, exciting chapter for its members. It’s built on friendship and mutual respect, allowing them to come together feeling revitalised. At their core, Vower is united by their love for heavy music.

With more music inevitably expected soon, Vower will be making their live debut across the summer at various festivals including 2000Trees and ArcTanGent.
