Following the release of two EPs, Seattle melodic metalcore mob To The Wind, are ready to release a full length of brand new material entitled ‘Empty Eyes’. This ten track album is brimming with a very angry fever; once opened it will certainly cause the usual mosh addicted crowd to go crazy and die. However, there is an almighty catch to be had, as this reviewer has discovered.

The components of this record feature diaphragm powered guttural vocals; slick melodically entwined metal guitars; and pummelling drum work. All of this is bathed in slick production, whilst maintaining a balance of the heavy element and the little sombre crescendos that peep through. Yes, this sure seems like solid ground for a good record.

Per contra, what this reviewer has found is another completely forgettable metalcore record. Yes there are good points, but the whole product just lacks any identity between each song. Every little tiny cog that turns each note and rhythm is something that has been created a million times, which is a shame because it’s very well produced.

All in all, there’s not a lot I can say about ‘Empty Eyes’ by To The Wind. Its only merit is that the production holds upright in a courteous manner, like a man holding the door for his fellow people. This reviewer’s reactions can be summed up by the following sentiment, you won’t even realise when the album begins or ends.
