Album Review: Lost Atlanta – Alive EP

Lost Atlanta – Alive EPThere’s rather a lot happening on ‘Alive’, Lost Atlanta’s second EP of post-hardcore pile drivers. You get five intense tracks of emotionally charged, richly textured but hard-hitting tunes.

The title track kicks off in a chaotic fusion of layered guitars and mixed vocal styles; trademark screaming balanced by a more melodic emo croon, while programmed beats and piano add depth to the musical textures. It is certainly an emotional mix and the busy intensity comes across throughout, from the treble heavy riffing of ‘Distractions’ and ‘Losing Sight’ through the swerving twists and turns of ‘Into the Grey’, culminating in the epic sing-along finale of the balladic ‘These Words’.

Though their sound is a little overcrowded at times, Lost Atlanta are highly proficient musically, there’s a superb solo on ‘Into the Grey’; and ‘Alive’ certainly demonstrates their potential with plenty of variation on display on this emotionally-charged EP, check ’em out.
