Download Festival Preview: Forever Can Wait

As we look forward to next weekend’s Download Festival preview, over the coming days you’ll see several interviews from some of the bands playing the three-day metal and rock fest.

Are you heading to Download? What bands are you excited to see? Let us know on our Facebook page or on Twitter.

Southampton post hardcore rockers Forever Can Wait arrive at Download as one of six bands voted for by fans to play the festival as part of Red Bull Studio’s Battle of the Bands contest.

With a new EP in the works, the five piece are set to showcase their bold and compelling brand of post hardcore on the Red Bull stage.

We caught up with the band to find out what we can expect, who they’re looking forward to seeing and more.

Already Heard: Can you tell us your name and role in the band?
Tash: I’m Tash and I sing.

Liam: I’m Liam and I play guitar.

Will: I’m Will and I play guitar and do some backing vocals.

Luke: I’m Luke and I play bass and shout.

Toby: I’m Toby and I play Drums.

AH: Why should fans check you out at Download?
Liam: We deliver ballsy alternative rock with an energetic performance that you won’t wanna miss.

Luke: We have a secret weapon in our lead singer Tash. She looks on the surface your average front-woman, but she delivers an intense performance with bags of energy.

Will: She defies all expectations and with us guys going nuts behind her we deliver an emotionally charged performance that we hope will be etched in your memory for a long time.

What can we expect from your set?
Toby: We only have 25 minutes to show what we can do, so we’re going to go out and play our newest EP in it’s entirety. They’re the songs we’re most proud of and we want to show them to as many people as possible.

AH: What other bands are you looking forward to seeing?
Tash: Slipknot are the main band, we all grew up with them and inspired us in some way or form.

Liam: Iron Maiden, you know, just cause they’re Iron Maiden. I spent my entire latter junior school years listening to my scratched as hell ‘Best of the Beast’ CD. I expect to hear all those classics and headbang til my neck seizes up!

Luke: Parkway drive have been a favorite of mine since ‘Killing With A Smile’.

Will: ‘Horizons’ was a ridiculously good release. I think we’re all agreed they’re gonna tear it apart.

Toby: I’d like to check out the other bands who made it through the Red Bull Studios Download Live competition. They all went through the same process we had to, and I speak for us all when I say I’m excited to see what they have to offer.

What are your memories of previous Download Festivals?
Liam: Well Will is the only one of us who’s been…

Will: Download was the first festival I ever went to when I was 16, I was in love with My Chemical Romance and they were headlining. They were getting bottled heavily and I got a bottle of piss chucked at my face, a real low point in my life. The whole festival was such an amazing experience, seeing so many cool bands that have influenced me and helped shape this band into what we are now. It was a right laugh being immersed in the camping experience. It definitely taught me a lot about what should and shouldn’t be done to survive the weekend with less than optimal living conditions. To be playing the Red Bull Studios Live stage at what was my first festival is such a big achievement for the band, and I’m so stoked to be playing as are the rest of the guys.

Do you have anything else you’d like to say?
Liam: It’s an opportunity to hear our latest EP live, before it’s been released. It would be incredible to see as many people as possible so we can hopefully make some new fans.

Catch Forever Can Wait at 16:25pm on the Red Bull Studios Live Stage on Sunday 16th June.
