In The News

AC/DC co-founder and former guitarist Malcolm Young has died. He retired from the band in 2014 due to health reasons. Young had been diagnosed with dementia and entered a nursing home to receive full-time care.

American emo-rapper Lil Peep has died aged 21, due to a suspected overdose.

Stone Temple Pilots have welcomed Detroit music veteran Jeff Gutt as their new singer. A as-yet-untitled album will be released on Atlantic/Rhino in 2018.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have shared plans to release a live album called ’23 – Live At Brixton’. It will be recorded at the O2 Brixton Academy next month, and will consist of live versions of every song the band have released to date. Pre-orders can be found here.

Sports have changed their name to Remember Sports.

Equal Vision Records have confirmed All Get Out and Hussey (the solo project of frontman Nathan Hussey) have joined the label. Both projects will be releasing new albums in 2018.

Watford quartet The Spitfires have joined Leeds label Hatch Records. Their first release on the label will be a 7" single titled ‘Over And Over Again’.

Japanese power metal heroines Lovebites have revealed their debut full-length album, ‘Awakening From Abyss’, will be released in the UK via JPU Records on 8th December.

Los Angeles via Chicago outfit Young Jesus have joined Saddle Creek Records. Their self-titled full-length is available digitally now and will receive a physical release on February 23rd.

Toronto heavy metallers The Parallel have joined InVogue Records.

Festival News

The first six bands for the 2018 Slam Dunk Festival have been announced. It will be headlined by Jimmy Eat World. They’ll be joined by Taking Back Sunday, Sleeping With Sirens, Four Year Strong, State Champs and Trash Boat.

Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman has announced 2018 will be the final, full cross-country tour.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Joshua Homme will be making an exclusive appearance at next Saturday’s A Peaceful Noise event at ULU Live in London. The show is in aid of Nick Alexander Memorial Trust and Homme’s The Sweet Stuff Foundation.

Cult Cardiff rockers Future Of The Left will headline Liverpool’s WRONG Festival. Set to take place at Liverpool Docklands on April 28th, other names announced so far are Damo Suzuki, Hark, Mugstar, Hey Colossus, Kagoule, Sex Swing, The St Pierre Snake Invasion, Alpha Male Tea Party, Milo’s Planes and Grey Hairs.
