Born of Osiris has routinely been delivering mammoth-sized progressive metalcore in abundance in some shape or form for 20 years. However, as their latest single, ‘Elevate’, there’s no slowing down for the Illinois-founded group.
Led by Lee McKinney and Nick Rossi’s chugging, groovy riff and Cameron Losch’s beefy drums, Ronnie Canizaro’s roaring vocals add to ‘Elevate’s urgency. At the same time, the recently departed Joseph Buras’ synth keys bring a sleek melody to Born of Osiris‘ hefty, textured sound.
“‘Elevate’ embodies the essence of our roots. The combination of ethereal melodies with down-tuned guitars has helped inspire lyrics that evoke darker emotions,” commented the band upon its release, While Rossi explained the “song was born during the pandemic and represents disconnecting from everything negative in your life and ascending to a positive place.”
The release is the third single BOO has delivered over the past 12 months. The technically proficient ‘Torchbearer’ arrived last August, before ‘A Mind Short Circuiting‘ was dropped this past February. While no album is yet to be announced, you’d think a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Angel or Alien’ isn’t too far away.
