If you’ve been paying any attention to Brighton duo Lake Malice, then you’ll know they’ve been the radar of many for quite some time. As they prepare to kick off their first UK headline tour next week, they’ve delivered a new track called ‘Eternal December’.  Having been admirers of the pairing of Alice Guala and Blake Cornwall for quite a while, it made sense to s to highlight the track as our ‘Song of the Day’.

Never one to sit back on familiar ground, ‘Eternal December’ opens with euphoric synths before sharp guitars momentarily rip through. Some punchy drum work amplifies its pulsating, energetic chorus and Guala soaring melody As ‘Eternal December’ surges forward, it captures the emotional release of the track’s lyrical core. While Cornwall’s glacier production and throws in some impressive, crunching fretplay.

Inspired by Alice Guala’s experience of moving countries, homesickness and seasonal depression, ‘Eternal December’ allows her to express those emotions, emphasining the struggle of trying to rebuild meaningful connections, and how doing feel like neverending.

“We wrote this song in the wintery months when the rain never stopped and we barely saw the sun. It feels like something everyone can relate to on some level,” Lake Malice explained. They also commented on the stlyistic boundary-less approach to the making of the song.  “Our aim has always been to avoid limitations on where we take our music and we’re extremely proud of this multilayered composition which incorporates elements of EDM, hyperpop and metalcore.”

Lake Malice‘s immient UK headline tour follows an active 2023 which included various festival spots and shows in the UK and Europe  with Enter Shikari, Skindred and Bloodywood.

On their March 2024 UK tour, they’ll be joined on select dates by London metalcore outfit ThisCityIsOurs, electro-infused Leeds band Artio, and Herts power trio High Regard.
