Emerging Leeds outfit Venus Grrrls showcase their softer side on new single – ‘Divine’. The quintet present an alluring grunge-inspired number, with twinkly goth-rock synths giving the track an air of mystery. Its chorus sees vocalist/guitarist GK swoon “You’re just my type, I think I like you,” capturing the feeling of a blossoming relationship.
“’Divine” is the female gaze; the unsaid, but the known. It narrates the earlier stages of a relationship which is shrouded in mystery, making for an addictive and all-consuming sentimentality,” explained GK.
‘Divine’ is the latest in a series of impressive singles from Venus Grrrls. Completed by Eliza Lee (lead guitar), Hannah Barraclough (bass), Grace Stubbings (synth) and Gabby Cooke (drums), the self-proclaimed “girly goth rock” group made waves during 2023. Tracks such as ‘Lidocaine’, and ‘Liar Liar’, received praise from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and Radio X, confirming their credentials as a band to watch in the UK alt/rock scene.
On the live front, Venus Grrrls are quickly filling their schedule for the coming months. Kicking off with a hometown headline show next month, they’ll be playing a handful of festivals alongside supporting Sprints in April.
