Rising Welsh goth synth-punks The Nightmares have released a new track called ‘Hell Is Gonna Happen’. The anthemic and empowering number leans into obvious influences such as The Cure and New Order, and combines it with a plucky, emotional chorus.
The track tells the tale of someone who is constantly unlucky, and giving them strength and hope. “It’s a song for those who feel luckless in life. For people who feel like life never goes their way,” explained The Nightmares vocalist and guitarist Adam Parslow. “‘Hell Is Gonna Happen’ is about embracing the chaos in life and following the path set for us – no matter how uncertain. It’s about finding beauty in disaster and chasing your dreams.”
Its video is the third of four chapters. Its narrative explores the journey of “Blue” and her experiences of alienation, exploration, self-love and fulfilment. “These videos are set to a moody, dark, aesthetic and tie in with the world we wanted to create for the album. They were inspired by our collective love of 90s Cult TV Show X-Files and 00s film classic, Donnie Darko.” All four videos, ‘Something In The Dark’, ‘Dead Roses’, ‘Hell Is Gonna Happen’ and the forthcoming ‘Letting It All Go’, were directed by band member Parslow. They will also appear on The Nightmares‘ second album, ‘Fire In Heaven’, which will be released through Venn Records on 14th February 2025.
